Some PerspectiveAnalysis

Indices

All three constructed indices point the same direction

SSI (statistical suppression) and FCI (fiscal centralisation) have risen sharply since 2014. DQI (democratic quality) has fallen by an equivalent amount. The three are constructed from independent data sources but co-move because they measure related institutional erosion.

The three indices are correlated because the underlying processes are correlated — not by construction.
