Democracy

The Democratic Quality Index is the lowest it has been

DQI combines V-Dem, Freedom House, and RSF rankings via geometric mean — so weakness in any single dimension pulls the composite down. It has fallen from 0.71 (2014) to 0.40 (2026). The 2014-2020 slide alone wiped out half the index's headroom.

No single index tells the whole story, but every credible index points the same direction.
