Gig and platform workers nearly tripled between 2011-12 and 2019-20

NITI Aayog estimates 2.5 million gig and platform workers in 2011-12 and 6.8 million in 2019-20, 2.7 times as many. It puts 2020-21 at 7.7 million and projects 23.5 million by 2029-30. Gig workers were 1.3% of all workers in 2019-20 on NITI's estimate.
