All three index averages are worse after 2014, and the fiscal index has fallen since 2020
SSI (statistical suppression) rose sharply after 2014 and DQI (democratic quality) fell. FCI (fiscal centralisation) moved differently. Its NDA average of 0.43 is above the UPA average of 0.30, mostly because of GST and the 2020 borrowing conditions, but it peaked in 2020 and was 0.35 in 2026, below its 2014 value of 0.42. The three are built from separate data sources.
What follows. On era averages all three indices are worse under NDA. The FCI gap is the smallest of the three and rests on its two coded components.
